Vol. 207 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Standardising of Electrical Equipment.

25.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, having regard to expenses which users of electricity frequently are obliged to bear by reason of the unnecessary variety and inferiority of plugs and sockets, he will have steps taken to standardise such equipment and to improve its quality.

I am not aware that there is public dissatisfaction with the quality of electric plugs and sockets.

The Institute for Industrial Research and Standards has already prepared a standard for certain classes of plugs and sockets.
