Vol. 207 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arklow Coast Erosion.

2.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) if he is aware of the coast erosion occurring at Arklow immediately south of the Arklow pottery on the strip of sanddunes between the golf course and the sea, which would constitute a serious threat to the pottery if it continues at the present rate; and (b) that this erosion is a deterrent to the plans of Arklow Pottery Limited for further development in the town; and what steps are being taken to deal with the matter.

Under the Coast Protection Act, 1963, the promotion of a protection scheme is a matter for the local authority. No proposals have been made to the Commissioners of Public Works in relation to the South Beach at Arklow.
