asked the Minister for Education the total number of secondary schools in the State which provide courses in physics to (a) intermediate and (b) leaving certificate standard; and if he will state in each case the number of such schools teaching physics through (i) Irish and (ii) English.

asked the Minister for Education the number of recognised secondary schools providing courses in physics to (a) intermediate and (b) leaving certificate standard which have at present on their teaching staff (i) an honours graduate in science or (ii) a pass graduate in science.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 112 and 113 together.

The reply is in the form of a statement which, with your permission, I propose to have circulated in the Official Report.

asked the Minister for Education the number of pupils in recognised secondary schools at present studying physics through (a) Irish and (b) English.

The number of pupils in recognised secondary schools at present studying physics (a) through Irish is 9,022 and (b) through English is 30,850.
