Vol. 207 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Terenure (Dublin) Site.

28.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay on the part of Dublin County Council in acquiring land adjoining Wainsfort Road, Terenure, Dublin and fronting Kimmage Manor, which the owners have agreed to donate to the Council; and when the site will be acquired and paved.

I am informed by Dublin County Council that in order to facilitate the developers at College Park Estate who had asked that certain roads be taken in charge, the council opened negotiations for the acquisition of the land referred to by the Deputy, which was understood to be in the ownership of parties other than the developers. Investigation of title has established, however, that the land, which is required for the completion of a footpath, is owned by an associated subsidiary company of the developers. It is a matter for the developers to secure possession of the land and to have the footpath constructed on it.

Is it not time that members of the House who crowd the Order Paper with questions should be required to be present when these questions are asked?

I could not agree more with the Deputy.
