Vol. 207 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post Office Appointment.

19.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the qualifications required for the position of junior installer for which interviews were held in Letterkenny, County Donegal in the autumn of 1963 by the Engineering Section of his Department; if an age limit was prescribed; if any candidate was exempted from this age limit; the qualifications of the person selected to fill the post; and the qualifications of the other candidates who were interviewed.

I presume that the Deputy is referring to interviews which were held in Letterkenny in August, 1963, for positions as trainee installer in my Department. The qualifications required for these positions were aptitude for and interest in technical work. The age limits were 16 to 25 years. No candidate was exempted from these age limits. The twelve candidates who were appointed as trainee installers as a result of the interviews were regarded as the most suitable for the job. It would be contrary to practice to furnish information about the qualifications of individual applicants.
