Vol. 208 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Travelling Allowances of District Nurses.

3.

asked the Minister for Health if he will further clarify circular letter SM.115/9 dated 31st May, 1962 relative to increased travelling allowances for district nurses so as to indicate whether it includes district nurses employed in a county borough.

The increased travelling allowances set out in the letter of 31st May, 1962, referred to by the Deputy, were expressed to relate to districts which are mainly rural and districts which are mainly urban, but are not in county boroughs. In the county boroughs a different set of circumstances prevails by reason of the existence of a good public transport service which is available to the district nurses in the course of travel on official business.
