Vol. 208 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rush (Dublin) Parish Acreage.

17.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) the estimated acreage of Rush parish, (b) the number of rated occupiers of land there, excluding the Palmer Estate, (c) the estimated total and average valuation of agricultural and horticultural holdings, excluding the Palmer Estate, and (d) the estimated average acreage of each holding, excluding the Palmer Estate.

Rush parish is not a civil administrative unit, and particulars in regard to it cannot be furnished.

The former Palmer estate is situated in the townlands of Rush and Rush Demesne, which together constitute the electoral division of Rush. The following particulars have been extracted from the current Valuation List:

(a) The total area of the electoral division of Rush is 1,632 acres 2 roods 13 perches. With the exception of 12 holdings, totalling 29 acres 3 roods 9 perches, in the townland of Rush, all these lands were comprised in the former Palmer estate. The area of land now retained by the estate is 260 acres 0 roods 27 perches, all in the townland of Rush Demesne.

(b) The total number of reteable hereditaments in the electoral division of Rush which include land, apart from that retained by the estate, is 851. Among these is a large number of small gardens and curtilages.

(c) The total valuation of land in the electoral division of Rush, apart from that retained by the Estate, is £1,171, representing an average of £1 8s. for each of the rateable hereditaments referred to at (b).

(d) The average acreage of each of the holdings referred to at (b) is 1 acre 3 roods 30 perches.

I would suggest that, if the foregoing particulars are not adequate to serve the Deputy's purpose, he consult the Valuation Lists.
