Vol. 208 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Heifer Subsidy Scheme.

30.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that where dairymen want to buy calved heifers nobody can benefit from the heifer subsidy scheme; and if he will make provision in the scheme that either the buyer or the seller may receive the benefit.

A heifer introduced into a herd after calving will, subject to compliance with the conditions of the Scheme and provided that there is satisfactory evidence of a genuine transfer of ownership, be eligible for payment of grant in that herd under the Scheme of Grants for Calved Heifers. This concession will not apply, however, to calved heifers coming from Northern Ireland.
