Vol. 208 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Speed Limit.

51.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will arrange for a reduction in the speed limit at Raheny, Dublin, from forty miles per hour to thirty miles per hour, as recommended to him by Dublin Corporation and by St. Annes Residents Association.

52.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in deference to the wishes of the residents of Borris-in-Ossory, County Laois, as conveyed through the unanimous decision of the members of the Laois County Council, he will introduce regulations to reduce the speed limit through this town from forty to thirty miles per hour.

54.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that, despite the unanimous wish of the Laois County Council that a speed limit of forty miles per hour be enforced through the village of Cullohill, County Laois, the technical committee for County Laois did not recommend the implementation of such a speed limit; and if he will now take steps to make a regulation stipulating a limit.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 51, 52 and 54 together.

The position in regard to these cases is under consideration in my Department in connection with the review of speed limits at present being undertaken. The views of the technical committees, the local authorities and of all interested persons will be taken into account before decisions are made.
