Vol. 208 No. 7

Written Answers. - Capital Cost of Schools.

98.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state, as far as possible, (a) the capital cost, including building cost and initial equipment cost, of each of the vocational and other schools listed in a written reply of 3rd December 1963, and (b) the value currently placed on each of these buildings and contents, assessed for purposes of fire insurance.

The reply which I gave to the Deputy on 3rd December, 1963, gave such information as was readily available in my Department on the various matters contained in the question concerning the 249 permanent vocational schools. The additional information requested could be compiled only at the expense of a considerable dislocation of the normal work of the staffs of my Department and of the vocational education committees. I am not satisfied that this dislocation of normal work and the expenditure of an inordinate amount of time and labour would be warranted in endeavouring to compile the information now being sought.
