asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of telephones installed in 1956, and each year since.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to include it in the Official Report.

The information required is as follows:

1956

9,397

1957

8,980

1958

10,550

1959

11,577

1960

15,288

1961

14,547

1962

14,787

1963

14,353

45.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number on new telephones installed in County Wexford during each of the years 1961, 1962 and 1963, and the number proposed to be installed during 1964.

The numbers were 300, 185 and 195 respectively. It is hoped to instal about 200 this year.

Is that the best the Minister can go, having regard to the fact that there were 300 installations in 1961?

We can always try to do better, of course, and that is the idea behind the endeavour of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.
