Vol. 209 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio and Television Interference.

57.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether the regulations prescribing the use of suppressors to minimise interference in radio and television by electrical apparatus have yet to come into operation; if he will state the dates and the S.I. numbers of the statutory instruments under which any prosecutions have taken place; and how many convictions have been obtained.

Two sets of regulations governing the control of interference with reception of radio and television programmes are now in operation. S.I. No. 108 of 1963 dated 6th of June, 1963, concerning interference caused by small electric motors came into force on 1st December, 1963. S.I. No. 223 of 1963 dated 8th November, 1963, concerning interference caused by ignition apparatus came into force on 1st February, 1964. There has been no prosecution under either of these Statutory Instruments.
