Vol. 209 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Port Trade.

7.

asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the cross-Channel trade in imports and exports from Cork port over the last three years.

The information requested by the Deputy is not available. For each commodity particulars of the gross weight, or number, of the total trade through Cork port, including Cobh, Whitegate, etc. are given annually in the accounts issued by the Cork Harbour Commissioners. These figures include coastal trade as well as external trade with all other countries; separate details for cross-Channel trade are not given in the publications.

In the Official Trade Statistics analysis by port is carried out quinquennially. The latest such analysis relates to the year 1959 and details of the quantity and value of the principal commodities entering into external trade with all other countries through Cork are given in the publication Trade and Shipping Statistics 1959 (Pr. 6600). Similar particulars in respect of the year 1964 will be available in due course.
