Vol. 209 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - ESB Anthracite Power Station.

13.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will consider, in conjunction with the ESB, the establishment of a power station in the South Laois or the North Kilkenny district, which will utilise anthracite and thereby guarantee employment in the local anthracite mines and bring about a great investment of capital in the development of the mines.

Investigations some years ago showed that technical and economic considerations ruled out the practicability of using Irish anthracite for electricity generation.
