Vol. 209 No. 6

Written Answer. - GNR Permanent Way Employees.

27.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if permanent way employees of the Great Northern Railway Board are covered by the compensatory conditions of the Transport Act, 1958.

Every person who, immediately before the vesting in CIE, on 1st October, 1958, of the part of the undertaking of the Great Northern Railway Board within the State, was an officer or servant of the Great Northern Railway Board and who was then resident in the State, was transferred or seconded to CIE by section 14 of the Great Northern Railway Act, 1958. The redundancy compensation provisions of the Transport Act, 1958, were applied to these former Great Northern Railway Board employees by section 17 of the Great Northern Railway Act, 1958.
