asked the Minister for Lands what areas of land his Department have under consideration for acquisition for afforestation purposes in North Tipperary, stating in each case the acreage involved.

There are at present 163 areas totalling 8,202 acres on offer for afforestation purposes in North Tipperary. In two of these cases totalling 22 acres sales have been closed and possession is pending. In 25 other cases comprising 1,558 acres agreement to purchase has been reached and title is in course of clearance. Negotiations to purchase are in progress with the owners of another 33 cases totalling 1,853 acres. The remaining cases are at the preliminary stages of investigation.
