Vol. 209 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foxford (Mayo) Vocational School.

68.

Mr. Browne

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that a site for a vocational school at Foxford, County Mayo, was purchased and paid for a considerable time ago; and that there is an urgent need for a vocational school in Foxford; and if he will take immediate steps to expedite the erection of the school.

I approved the purchase of a site for a vocational school at Foxford in February, 1962. In January, 1964, the Committee proposed the provision of a four-roomed school at this centre, but, at their April meeting, acceded to a suggestion from my Department that a five-roomed school be provided.

I have authorised the preparation of sketch plans for the project, and all stages of planning will be dealt with without avoidable delay in my Department.
