Vol. 209 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Indictable Offences.

83.

asked the Minister for Justice what proportion of persons convicted of a first indictable offence, whether tried summarily or before a judge and jury, since 1950 have been convicted of a second indictable offence in the period 1950 to 1963.

I regret that I am not in a position to supply this information as statistics are not compiled in such a way as would enable me to supply it.

The Deputy may, however, in this connection find of some interest the annual Reports on Prisons, which provide a detailed analysis of previous prison records, if any, of all prisoners committed on conviction during the year. Copies of the Reports are available in the Library.
