Vol. 209 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Estates.

63.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to divide the lands on the O'Meara Estate, Ballyfore, Croghan, Tullamore, County Offaly amongst the local deserving applicants; and if the lands will be divided this year.

64.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Meleady Estate, Bunsallagh, Croghan, Tullamore, County Offaly will be divided amongst the local deserving applicants; and, if so, when.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 63 and 64 together.

These two properties, aggregating 267 acres, have been treated as a unit by the Land Commission for resale purposes. Last month, a total of 142 acres was divided amongst ten local applicants and it is hoped to allot a further area of some 71 acres later this year. Arrangements have not yet been completed for allocation of the remaining 54 acres which consist of bogland.

65.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to divide the Williams Estate, Falsk, Gallen, Ferbane, County Offaly, amongst the many local deserving applicants in the area; if it will be divided this year; and if it is a fact that 137 acres of this property will be used to solve local congestion.

Provided that the question of a right-of-way affecting these lands can be satisfactorily settled it is hoped to allot the entire of this estate, comprising 137 acres, during the current year.

It is not the practice to indicate in advance of allotment the nature of resale proposals for individual estates.
