Vol. 210 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lisnamrock (Tipperary) School.

12.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that parents in the Lisnamrock district, County Tipperary have refused to send their children to the national school in Lisnamrock because of the filthy and unhealthy condition of the building which was condemned as unfit by the Tipperary medical officer of health some 20 years ago; and that there has been undue delay in the building of the new national school in the area; and whether he will take immediate steps to expedite the provision of the new school, since the children cannot attend the present school without serious danger to their health.

Progress on the erection of the new school at Lisnamrock has been slower than we would like, largely because of the contractor's difficulties in obtaining suitable tradesmen. He has been pressed to expedite the work and a special inspection yesterday shows that he is now taking special steps to expedite the work and it is expected that the contract will be completed by the end of the summer holidays.
