Vol. 210 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reporting of Road Accidents.

36.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government if, having regard to the statutory obligation whereby accidents on the railways must be reported to his Department, he will take steps to impose a like obligation on operators of road passenger and road haulage services, so as to provide a fair comparison between the alternative transport systems.

The giving of information in regard to accidents in which road vehicles are involved is covered by section 106 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 and it is not proposed to make any amendment of the law in this respect.
