Vol. 210 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants to Galway Industries.

11.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the total amount of grants paid to the different industries in Galway city during the past seven years.

The total amount of grants paid in respect of industries in Galway city during the six years ended 31st March, 1963, was £858,868. The details of these grants appeared in the annual reports of An Foras Tionscal. I do not consider it desirable that details of the 1964 report should be furnished prior to its presentation to the Dáil.

Will the Minister agree that most of this money has been granted to this factory which is now closing down, or is there so much redundancy——

The Deputy wants to close the factory.

The Minister is famous for hiding things.

Would the Minister have available in his brief the number of men employed in this industry?

I have not.

Is it not a fact that 700 were to be employed?

The Deputy is trying——

(Interruptions.)
