asked the Minister for Education whether students sitting for examinations under the rules of his Department are required to complete an identification form FA2 on which space is indicated for the normal signature of the candidate in Irish and in English; if so, if he can explain what is meant by normal signature in two languages; and if he proposes to substitute for this anomalous from one which does not require more than one signature.
The answer to the question is "Yes". The form on which space is provided for a normal signature in the two languages has been in use for many years and was drawn up when candidates were not consistent in the use of either the Irish or English form of their signatures.
I have arranged to have this form amended so as to provide for one signature only, in Irish or English as the candidate chooses.
