Vol. 211 No. 8

Supplementary Estimate, 1964-65. - Vote 21—Rates on Government Property.

I move:

That a sum not exceeding £584,800 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1965, for Rates and Contributions in lieu of Rates, etc., in respect of Government Property, and for Contributions towards Rates on Premises occupied by Representatives of External Governments.

Could the Minister say what are "non-beneficial rates"? The wording appears in subhead B.

I can only give an opinion. I think they are rates where you do not get any benefit such as water or sewerage.

I do not think that is the answer.

Perhaps not. I shall not insist on it.

I think it means where the Minister gets no benefit. I do not know.

Vote put and agreed to.
