Vol. 211 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rush (Dublin) Estate.

40.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of the Palmer Estate, Rush, County Dublin (a) whether the Land Commission has arranged to purchase all or a portion of the land in the Estate, (b) the number of acres concerned, (c) the estimated purchase price per acre, (d) whether the land will be divided among local deserving applicants before the end of the year, (e) whether any portion of the land acquired will be available for other purposes, (f) the proposed estimated average acreage of each allocation, and (g) the estimated average annuity or loan repayable per acre.

An area of 208 acres on this estate was purchased and allotted by the Land Commission some years ago. Last week, agreement was reached for purchase by the Land Commission under section 36, Land Act, 1923, of a further area comprising 260 acres with substantial buildings. It is not the practice to publish the price in voluntary purchase cases.

Possession of the 260 acre area is not expected to be obtained by the Land Commission until early next year. It is still too soon to indicate what form the plan of division will take.
