asked the Minister for Local Government if it is a fact that a tender accepted by Cork County Council was £12,000 in excess of the lowest tender submitted; and, if so, the reasons for the acceptance of the larger tender.

Cork County Council accepted the second lowest tender received for the erection of new county council offices. The tender is approximately £12,000 in excess of the lowest tender and was accepted following advice tendered by the council's consulting engineer and by the county architect.
