Vol. 212 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Decentralisation of Civil Service Departments.

4.

asked the Minister for Finance what plans the Government have under consideration for moving Civil Service Departments out of Dublin to provincial centres; and if he will state at exactly what stage of progress each of any such plans is.

It has been decided in principle that certain Government offices should be transferred from Dublin. The various practical problems involved in implementing this decision are at present being examined by a committee.

Would the Minister say in respect of what Departments has this decision been made?

I should say the committee are examining that, to see what Departments it could be applied to most easily and most conveniently. I expect a report from the committee within three or four weeks.

No Department at all has been selected so far?

No, not specifically.

Is this an interdepartmental committee?
