asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will give details of the number of interruptions which took place in telephonic communications between Cork and Dublin during the period 1st June, 1964 to 3rd September, 1964.

The reply is in the form of a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

NOTE: The particulars above relate to the main cable route between Dublin and Cork exchanges. All the interruptions were partial, i.e., they affected some—not all—of the cable circuits in each case. The effects of the interruptions on the service to callers were minimised by the use of alternative routes between the two cities.
