Vol. 212 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Printing of Telephone Account Forms.

86.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs what efforts were made by his Department to ascertain whether telephone account forms of the type required could be produced and printed in Ireland prior to the decision to use forms printed in the United States; whether he is aware that many telephone subscribers object to the fact that they now receive accounts marked printed in USA; and whether he will make further inquiries as to the possibility of printing these forms in this country.

I would refer the Deputy to my replies of 8th and 21st April last.

The telephone account forms are dual-purpose punch cards processed in a mechanised accounting system. The source of supply is a matter for the contractor. I am not aware of objections of the kind mentioned by the Deputy.
