asked the Minister for Finance what are the chief branches of economic activity included in the other domestic sector of employment shown in Table 2, paragraph 27 of the Second Programme for Economic Expansion; if he will state for the latest date for which figures are available the number of persons at work in each such branch; and if he will allocate the estimated employment in 1970 of 473,000 among such different branches.

The chief branches of economic activity included in the other domestic sector of employment shown in Table 2, paragraph 27 of the Second Programme for Economic Expansion are commerce, insurance, banking and finance, transport, communication and storage, public administration and defence, professions, personal service and entertainment and sport. The number of persons at work in each such branch, as recorded at the Census of Population, taken in April 1961, is shown in the following table, which also includes estimates for April 1963 in as much detail as is available together with projections for 1970. The total figure for 1970 is 475,000, as published on page 299 of Part II of the Second Programme for Economic Expansion. At this stage the 1970 projections are tentative figures and it may become necessary to revise them according as more information becomes available.
