Vol. 213 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Stone and Marble.

51.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that there has been a recession in the Irish cut-stone trade because of the importation of Portland stone from England and marble from Italy; and if he will consider imposing restrictions on such imports in order to help Irish trade.

I am not so aware. The industry has the benefit of a protective tariff against external competition.

If I give the Minister details of the position, will he have the matter investigated?
