Vol. 213 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State Board Pension Schemes.

5.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of State boards how many have (a) contributory and (b) non-contributory pension schemes in operation for their employees; and how many State boards have not, as yet, provided pension schemes for their employees.

Of the State boards in respect of whose pension arrangements I have statutory functions, 11 have contributory pension schemes in operation for their employees, two operate non-contributory schemes and three have not, as yet, made pension schemes for their staff.

Would the Minister be in a position to tell us the names of the three boards which have not pension schemes for their staff?

They are the Racing Board, Bord Gráin and Bord na gCon.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance how many State boards are obliged to have his approval for the introduction of a pension scheme; and how many such boards are not receiving any contribution towards the cost of the scheme from the Exchequer.

Fifteen State boards are obliged under statute to have my approval for the introduction of a pension scheme. Three of these have not, as yet, made pension schemes for their staff and, of the remainder, six are not receiving any contribution from the Exchequer at present towards the cost of their schemes.
