Vol. 213 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Swords (Dublin) Cottages.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government (a) how many cottages are planned by Dublin County Council for the Swords area, (b) how many applicants there are for houses in this area, (c) how far planning has progressed, (d) whether there is delay in development of the site and, if so, why and (e) when it is expected that cottages will be ready for allocation.

I understand that the Dublin County Council have in their possession in Swords a site for 120 cottages and that there are at present approximately 100 applicants for re-housing in the area. Plans for the scheme are being prepared. Development cannot, however, be commenced until satisfactory access to the site can be provided. A compulsory purchase order for the acquisition of land to provide such access is under consideration in my Department and a decision thereon will be issued to the housing authority as soon as possible. I am not in a position at this stage to state when the cottages will be ready for allocation.
