Vol. 213 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castlemaine (Kerry) Postman.

14.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare at what date the local employment exchange at Killorglin, County Kerry was asked to nominate persons for the post of postman at Castlemaine; at what date the person nominated by the exchange for this post registered at the exchange; for how many consecutive days he was signing at the exchange prior to nomination; and if he was in receipt of unemployment assistance or unemployment benefit at the time of nomination.

I have already informed the Deputy of the date the vacancy was notified to the local office at Killorglin. The person nominated for the post registered on the 25th September. He was not required to sign on consecutive days as he was not an applicant for unemployment assistance or unemployment benefit.

As I have told the Deputy repeatedly, there was no person other than the man nominated, who satisfied the requirements specified by the Post Office authorities.

Would the Minister say for information what was the answer to the first part and what was the date the local employment exchange was notified, or was asked to nominate persons?

A person was nominated for the post on 25th September.

The Minister was asked when the exchange was asked to nominate for the post.

It was 23rd September, as far as I can see.
