Vol. 213 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointment of Postmen.

28.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if applicants for appointment as postmen are allowed credit for Army service; and, if so, if any extension of the age limit is permitted in such case.

The regulations governing open competitions conducted by the Civil Service Commissioners for positions as postman provide for an extension of the upper age limit of 30 years in the case of persons who have rendered at least two years permanent and full-time military service to the State. They may deduct from their actual age any period of such service up to a maximum of six years subject to certain conditions.
