Vol. 213 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio Éireann Expenditure.

32.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he has any function with regard to checking or supervising the current expenditure of the Radio Éireann Authority on television or sound services as this expenditure occurs, as apart from receiving the report and accounts of the Authority at yearly intervals.

The answer is no but the accounts of Radio Éireann are subject to audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General and this includes the scrutiny of all revenue expenditure.

Is there no check by the Minister or his Department during the year on expenditure by Telefís Éireann?

There is not.

Does the Minister think there ought to be?

I do not think so.
