Vol. 213 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Age Limit for Scholarships.

47.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that injustice will be caused to some candidates for scholarships in secondary, vocational and other approved schools in 1965 because they will reach the age of 13 between 1st January, 1965, and 31st March, 1965; and if he will alter the upper age limit in order to allow these candidates to sit for the examination.

I am not so aware. It was precisely to avoid any such possibility that two years' notice of the proposed reduction in the age limits was given. I do not propose, therefore, to alter the upper age limit for this examination.
