Vol. 213 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Hired Workers: OECD Study.

14.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he is aware that the position of the Irish agricultural hired worker is not included in the OECD Study on the position of the agricultural hired worker in Europe, including Great Britain, published in April 1962; and if he can state why.

I take it that the study to which the Deputy refers is that entitled "The position of the Agricultural Hired Worker—A survey in Eight European Countries". This survey was made by a German expert on behalf of the German research centre. It was not an OECD study though the former OEEC did, I understand, help in financing it. The selection of countries to be included in the survey was, of course, a matter for the German research centre.

Could the Taoiseach say whether or not it is correct that the Government of this country have not given information which was requested by OECD officials?

I am sure that is not correct.
