36.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of persons in receipt of disability benefit (a) in the State and (b) in the area of the Dublin Health Authority.

A count of persons in receipt of disability benefit in the State is made only in January and July each year. The number of such persons on 7th July, 1964, the latest date on which the count was made, was 50,710; the number in the Dublin Health Authority area being approximately 12,000.
