Vol. 213 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Registry Extension.

54.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in respect of the extension to the Land Registry Building in Dublin (a) its cost, (b) the purpose for which it was built, and (c) the purpose for which it is now proposed to use it.

While the final account for the contract has not yet been received, it is estimated that the cost of the new extension will amount to £15,000 approximately.

The recent completion of the new one-storey extension to the Land Registry building represents the end of the first stage of a building programme designed to provide additional office and storage space to meet the accommodation requirements of that office. As a temporary measure the new extension is being used to house staff who were inadequately accommodated in the old buildings. When the second stage of the building programme is completed the staff at present in the new one-storey extension will be transferred and the vacated accommodation used for the storage of legal documents lodged in the Land Registry.
