Vol. 214 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reconstruction and Repair of Schools.

121.

asked the Minister for Education the number of national schools at present in need of (a) replacement and (b) reconstruction or repair; and the number of such works it is hoped to complete during 1965.

According to the records of my Department, there are approximately 680 national schools which require to be replaced by new schools. There are about 200 schools requiring major schemes of improvements and alterations.

It is hoped to complete at least 100 new schools and 50 major reconstruction schemes during 1965.
