Vol. 214 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rathcoole (Dublin) School.

13.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) the date on which sanction was given for the building of a new national school in Rathcoole, County Dublin, (b) the date on which a tender was accepted for this work, and (c) when it is expected that the building will be completed.

A grant towards the cost of erection of the school was sanctioned by the Department of Education on 21st December, 1961. A tender was accepted by the Commissioners of Public Works on 22nd February, 1963. Subsequently, when it was found that additional accommodation was required, it was decided to erect a new type of school instead of the traditional type provided for in the plans and the negotiations with the contractor were completed in September, 1963. Progress by the contractor has been unsatisfactory and it is unlikely that the contract will be completed for some months. The Deputy may rest assured that all practicable steps are being taken to secure the earliest possible completion of the works.
