A decision has not yet been reached on the long term future of the Grand Canal. As I have indicated in reply to previous questions in this matter, the canal cannot be closed under existing legislation while it continues to be used for public navigation.
Can the Minister give any indication when he is likely to have a decision in this matter?
It is not possible for me to give any firm indication, but I should hope that a decision can be made some time during the present year.
