Vol. 214 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Accommodation for Itinerants.

58.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he can take any steps to ensure that the Dublin Health Authority make available without delay the alternative site for itinerants who are at present encamped in very difficult conditions on the Cherry Orchard site.

I have been impressing on both Dublin Corporation and Dublin County Council the urgent necessity of providing sites for itinerants in the Dublin area. A survey of potential sites was made by technical officers of both local authorities and a joint meeting of representatives nominated by the two authorities actually recommended the provision of a site for twenty families at Bluebell. I regret to say, however, that this proposal was rejected by the Dublin City Council. I understand that the authorities concerned are pursuing the examination of alternative sites.

What part did Deputy Ryan take in the rejection?

Mr. Ryan

What about Deputy Burke's resolution?
