Vol. 214 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disconnecting of Telephone Subscribers.

111.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if it is the practice of the telephone branch of his Department, in cases where telephone accounts have been left overdue, to disconnect the subscriber without giving any warning of the intention to do so; and if he considers that such a practice is warranted or desirable in the interests of good relations between subscribers and the telephone authorities.

When a telephone account remains unpaid after the normal period of credit, my Department's practice is to give the subscriber a written notice, or a telephone call in certain circumstances, informing him that the account remains unpaid, and that his telephone service will be disconnected failing payment within a specified period.
