Vol. 214 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post Office Savings Accounts.

20.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the illegibility of microfilm copies of post office savings accounts furnished by his Department; and if he will have steps taken to furnish members of the public requiring them with legible copies of post office accounts.

I am not aware of the illegibility of microfilm copies of accounts furnished by my Department. Standard procedure is that these microfilm copies should be furnished only where they are clearly legible, and I have no evidence to suggest that this procedure is not generally followed.

Mr. Ryan

If I bring to the Minister's attention samples of illegible microfilm could the Minister see that his Department would furnish typed copies?

The intention is that everything issued is legible and if anything is illegible it is through error, so that any help the Deputy can give will be appreciated.
