Vol. 214 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Underground Fall-Out City.

14.

Mr. Browne

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received proposals from Hans Paul, a German industrialist, to set up an underground fall-out city in the west of Ireland; if so, if he will state their nature; and what action he proposes to take in regard to them.

No such proposals have been received by me.

Mr. Browne

Is the Minister aware that Mr. Paul is a director of a large electronics factory in Germany interested in the development of atomic energy? Is the Minister further aware that Mr. Paul is recognised as an expert on atomic energy, electronics and uranium and would he consider the pursuit of these plans a security risk?

That is an entirely different question.

Mr. Browne

Has the Minister seen a report in Business and Finance of 12th February, 1965, in which Mr. Paul says: “We have these plans but it will be a long operation, and it will be a long time before we start on them——”

Quotations may not be made at Question Time.

I hear he is setting up in Crossmolina.

Mr. Browne

If Mr. Paul makes application to set up in Crossmolina, what answer will the Minister give him?

I shall consult the Deputy.
