Vol. 214 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of County Dublin Estate.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government what is the present position in relation to the compulsory acquisition of the Mooney Estate at Walkinstown by Dublin County Council.

The report of the inspector who held the inquiry in relation to the compulsory purchase order in which these lands are included is being examined and I hope to be in a position to convey a decision to the local authority in the matter shortly.

Can the Minister say how long it has taken to put this compulsory purchase order through?

I should imagine a couple of years.

I would say three.

I have an idea it was two but I shall not argue about it.

Is there any good reason why it should take that length of time? This is land which is urgently required for a recreation centre for people in a very populous area.

There are probably reasons in every case for a certain timelag. Just what the reasons might be in this case, I would not be in a position to say immediately to the Deputy. However, if he wants any details of that sort, I probably could supply him with some of the reasons for the delay.
