asked the Minister for Justice if he will give an estimate of the value of property stolen in Dublin in each of the past five years; how much has been recovered; and what percentage of all reported thefts has remained undetected.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Stolen Property.
The only estimate available of the value of stolen property is that supplied by the owner to the Gardaí. The reply which gives the total value of property stolen as it appears in Garda records for each of the five years ending 30th September, 1960 to 1964, is in the form of a tabular statement, which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report. The statistics relate to the Dublin Metropolitan Division of the Garda Síochána as it was prior to its recent extension.
