Vol. 214 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Housing.

25.

Mr. Burke

asked the Minister for Local Government (1) how much land has been acquired for the building of council houses in County Dublin in the years 1963, 1964 and up to 15th February 1965 and the cost; (2) how many houses are under construction; (3) how many houses will be built on the land acquired in the near future; and (4) if he will give the names of the areas.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

The majority of the houses in the above schemes are approaching completion at present.

In addition to above, development work for a 62-house scheme at Shankill is almost completed.

Would the Minister also include in the tabular statement mention of how many houses were built last year by this county council, which is nil?

If I had been asked that, I am sure the information would be in the tabular statement.

The Minister would not like to volunteer it?

Since the Deputy already has the answer, I do not see much point in it.

I would like to enlighten others.

I am sure the Deputy will do that.
